Chatting with Yoko

*We aim to aspire to inspire as we chat to others, picking their brains, exploring their gifts and practices.

All posts are raw & unedited because f**k none of us are perfect & it is time to celebrate that - I'm here for the honest & real, you?

Who are you?

It's a simple question yet so complex! I am still finding out who I am. I am an explorer, creative, chef, dreamer, mother, lover, intuitive, businesswoman, daughter, and friend. I am an introvert who loves and is inspired by being with people. I can be lazy and disorganized but driven with big visions and dreams. I thrive in nature and also love diverse city life. I am grateful for everything that has happened in my life, yet still, these memories can take me into a dark hole. I am confident and secure within myself but doubt myself at times. I have both traditional and liberated life values. I love deeply while tending to pull away because I am also scared of getting hurt.

What I have learned so far is to embrace all of me. Loving all of me is not the goal just yet. Embracing, accepting, and being compassionate towards myself through all the lightness and darkness, permit me to further explore who I am and want to be.

How do you share your gift with others?

I would like to think, and am working on sharing my gift with others in every aspect of life. I often think about what my life purpose is. What is the legacy that I am leaving, and the impact that I am making? Now I come to realize I may never know. It can be small kind gestures that I show in everyday life that lift people's lives. It may be something I achieve in my business that makes an impact. Every moment is my opportunity.

I think when I am led by my true authentic self and doing something that I love doing, and bring me joy, is when I am elevating other people's lives, individually and collectively.

I love creating delicious, conscious food. I love listening to people's stories. I love working with botanicals. I love being part of the wellness industry. I love immersing in life philosophies, and Eastern and energetic medicine. I love seeing people elevating their lives because of what I can offer to them. It is such a blessing that I can do all of this in my private and work life.

What do you think we are about to see a lot of in your industry?

I am in both the food and wellness industry. And it is getting intertwined more than ever before. There is a big rise in organic, plant-based, consciously created foods, that are beneficial for our health as well as our planet. We are finally putting health and food together. And it is not just physical health. What we choose to consume can change us physically, mentally, and spiritually.

We are also rediscovering what we have always had. The connection with nature. The concepts of the universe and theories related to, that brings us to this one place, Ki/Chi where everything started from. Nothing is disconnected including all of us on this earth. It is how many eastern philosophies, including Kampo medicine, have elaborated to explain a wide range of phenomena. It is why, I think, many of us are drawn to lifestyle, medicine, products, and spiritual practices that remind us of this.

What does your perfect day look like?

Awww I love slow morning.

Wake up. Start with a cup of warm water. Meditate.

Move my body. Infrared sauna. Drag my dog for a walk (He hates walking!)

Tonic tea then cold-pressed green juice.

Get me into my kitchen with all of my favourite produce and botanical herbs to play with. Oh. farmer's markets are always fun.

Yoga or walk date with people I love. Deep conversations that make my head spin (in a good way). Spending time with people with big hearts where I can be myself without feeling judged in any way.

I might have to fit in a massage or acupuncture /moxa session here as well as a little by myself to lie on the grass and look up at the sky.

At night I would love a warm bath with magnesium or/and herbs. journal.

Gosh. A day like this is heavenly.

What sets your soul on fire?

Love.

Kind of love that makes me forget about the time. A feeling of the connection to something or/and someone that wraps my whole body so safe. They remind me to trust and take space.

Kind of love that gets me closer to a total Henosis.

Community.

Over the last nine years, I closed the Melbourne shop for a short time a few times, either from over-exhaustion, family priorities, financial reasons, or covid lockdowns. I reopened right back because I missed having a physical connection with the community too much.

I have had a big chunk of my life feeling isolated and not fitting in. Now I get to have these wonderful people around me and be part of people's wellness journey. It brings me so much joy and I will never take this for granted.
