Connecting with Gemma Lyndon

*Aiming to aspire to inspire as I chat to others, picking their brains, exploring their gifts and practices.

All posts are raw & unedited because f**k none of us are perfect & it is time to celebrate that - I'm here for the honest & real, you?

Who are you?

My name is Gemma, I own the brand Raie Eyewear, an eyewear brand focused on community. I grew up on the Gold Coast, Queensland, spending most days at the beach or in the valley.

What sets your soul on fire?

When I feel in control of my day and motivated to work towards something new. When my vision is so strong I can almost touch it. When I have purpose and can see my goals getting closer and closer. I am a manifesting generator so each new idea sets my soul on fire! I have found I am good at generating ideas and then hand them off to someone else to follow through! I also don’t like being told what to do or working under people haha

What is your proudest achievement outside of work?

Being able to make friends and have an amazing friendship group, owning a home.

What nourishes you?

I do a lot of mindset work and my daily practice of Kundalini Yoga is what fuels me. Creating goals and following though with them & Finding a good work life balance (always a constant battle).

What are you currently working on?

SO many exciting things! New collections for Raie & new businesses (stay tuned)

What was your journey to making your passion your everyday?

From the age of 19 I worked full time hours and worked on raie before and after work and on the weekends! It was so nice to have income coming in to take the pressure off Raie for the first few years.

What has been your favourite moment so far for your work / business?

It’s always pinch me moment when you’re walking down the street and you see someone

in Raie.

What is next?

I am trying to find a manager! If you know anyone let me know haha

What is your biggest goal for your Raie in the next 5 years?

We are looking to secure some high end retail partnerships and collaborations. Looking at sponsoring events and doing runway.

What is your favourite hobby?

I love nothing more than a nice summers day. A morning walk and coffee, then a swim, followed by a long late afternoon lunch seaside with my friends drinking wine.

What is your favourite book?

You are a badass at making money

If you could have any animal as a pet, what would it be?

A bunny! Would love to get one when the time is right

When has been a time in your life you felt defeated?

How did you overcome this? These times are the best times in our lives, you need to get into these situations more often! You learn and grow and come out the other side 10 x stronger and more motivated.

Being constantly creative, how do you balance?

I am now the queen of balance! This has taken me about 5 years to achieve. I make sure to put myself in front of work at all times now! I am lucky I have the creative control to do this. If this means an afternoon wine and facial and then back to work until 9PM with uber eats - this is my idea of balance haha

What do you think is the meaning of life?

Feeling loved, giving love, being happy and relaxed.

What is your biggest fear?

I guess I don’t really have one, but right now I am at a place in my life where I can take big risks, I don’t have children and I can always move back in with mum and dad if things go wrong!

What is the most valuable lesson you have learned in life?

You can’t plan anything. Rejection is protection.

What is your definition of success, and how do you measure it in your life?

A level of success from an outside perspective to me would be know as an ‘expert’ in your field, and people know who you are when you walk into a room. Successful on the inside is about achieving milestones!

Raie is such a beautiful company and so proud of your growth. What was it like going to NYC and seeing your products in stores? And what was the process of achieving this?

This is such a pinch me moment whenever I see my sunglasses in store or someone wearing them in person! I work with an agency in the US who are truly so aligned with my beliefs & values and the overall vision of my brand. Sometime when I am questioning myself and my brand I just take a quick walk around my house in Sydney and this is always the time I will pass someone wearing my sunglasses - a small sign from the universe to stay clear on my vision.

If you could style anyone in Raie, who would it be?

Petra Collins and Jessie Andrews

From speaking to beautiful Cas (mutual friend and amazing human), she shares how hard you work, how you have big visions and how inspiring you are. This must take a lot of hard work, determination and boundaries. What boundaries have you put in to make sure your goals are achieved?

This is an ongoing field of work for me, you have to have discipline in place! It’s challenging to find time to work on these goals but it’s important to prioritise these.
